The word science often brings to mind incredible things: chemical explosions, space travel, tiny molecules, but the truth is that this can sometimes be difficult to translate into the classroom. How can you convey the vastness of space from a picture or a model?
As I’ve said before, engagement is everything. It’s all about the experience, feeling like you’re there which can really bring topics to life. ClassVR allows you to take your pupils to the surface of Mars so that they can wonder why its surface is red, or take them to the moon so that they can see how different the Earth looks when only part of its surface is illuminated by the sun.
Of course, you don’t have to leave the planet. Even the ability to explore a range of different habitats here on Earth lends itself to the study of a range of different topics in science. Imagine being able to look around the rainforest, noticing the shapes of the leaves to try and identify them, and the animals that you can spot. This could easily lead on to discussing food chains, how you can tell what each creature eats. From there you’re on to talking about adaptations, evolution, Darwin, classification…
Why stop there? There is also a range of augmented reality experiences to choose from. How much more exciting for a class learning about the circulatory system to have an animated beating heart floating in front of them, which they can view from every angle and get right up close to (if they dare!)
There are endless applications for ClassVR when it comes to science. We will provide plenty of lesson plan ideas but beyond that, your imagination is the limit!
