Of course, it’s really important that the content we provide is high-quality and curriculum-linked, but I think one of the most exciting things about the ClassVR system is the fact that you can easily get your own content on the headsets.
Teachers in our Pioneer Schools are getting excited about this too! It really opens up the possibilities, and allows you to bring subjects to life with no restrictions.
With this in mind, I was thrilled to be handed a 360 camera to take with me on a recent trip to Japan! I couldn’t wait to start taking the kinds of photos and videos that would be invaluable to teachers. I captured 360 experiences of the bustling streets of Tokyo, peaceful temples and shrines, speeding bullet trains and even the more mundane aspects of life in Japan, such as riding the subway or shopping in a convenience store.
All this new content will be available for our subscribers soon, but it really acted as a test for us; would it actually be easy for me to upload this content on the go? If I were a busy teacher, could I get my images and videos onto the headsets in a couple of clicks? Happily, the answer is an emphatic yes!
Adding your own content in the ClassVR Portal couldn’t be simpler. Just open your ClassCloud library, hit the upload button and select your files. Once they’ve uploaded, drag and drop the VR 360 photos into your playlist and get started! No complicated tagging, no messing around with file formats – it just works.
It was great for me to be able to capture media so easily when I was visiting an incredible place. I’m sure teachers will be keen to do the same. It needn’t be as far away as Japan! A simple trip to the seaside or hilltop hike provides countless opportunities. And imagine being able to document your field trips in 360 degrees; what an impact that would have on the writing your students create about their experiences on return to school!
