Virtual Reality - Bringing the Outdoors Indoors

During the pandemic, one of the key developments that was seen worldwide was the speed with which traditional workplaces were replaced by digital counterparts – allowing students and teachers to seamlessly communicate and learn together, no matter where in the world they were. Tools like Microsoft Teams and Zoom started to bridge the gap in communication, but ClassVR users were able to go one step further, bringing the outdoors indoors, with VRroom and Avanti’s World.

Embracing the Eduverse

By allowing users to find each other in full scale, virtual environments and interact virtually using a blend of ClassVR headsets, desktops, laptop computers and mobile devices, we have created the perfect platform to keep learning exciting and engaging, no matter where you are.

Bringing the Outdoors to You

One of the things I love most when visiting Australia is the sheer abundance of nature – from woods and creeks to waterfalls and oceans, there’s always something worth seeing outside. But with schools struggling to justify taking large groups of students off-site to explore these places, how can teachers help their classes to still get a sense of what’s out there?

With ClassVR, it’s easy to capture 360-degree footage of the great outdoors and share it with your students. Simply grab some footage on a 360 camera, upload it to the ClassVR Portal and share it to your headsets with a few clicks. The photo below was captured during my last trip to Victoria at Werribee Zoo, and I have used it and others like it to show many of my fellow Brits what the great Australian outdoors is really like (and I even made them available on the ClassVR Community Portal, if you would like to see for yourself!)

Localised VR Content

One of our passions here at ClassVR HQ is working with our partners and our schools to create and customise content that helps teachers make the most of their ClassVR and Avanti’s World subscriptions. For Australia, this work started back in 2021 with our ‘Australian Environments’ and ‘Australian History’ categories on the ClassVR Portal. But it just starts there, we’ve got localised content for many parts of the world, from the UK to the US, there’s so much to explore!

Using the features in the ‘ClassVR Community’ our users are also able to quickly create their own playlists, add short descriptions and then share them instantly with users all over the world. This moderated community means that students in London can take a guided tour of an Australian sheep farm and students in Australia can visit the London Eye.

In 2022 we are looking to expand this library even further, and would love to hear from enthusiastic, local schools that have big ideas about the content that we might add to both ClassVR and Avanti’s World.

We believe that great, localised content can only come about with the input of great teachers that live and breathe their localised curricula and so, if this is you, drop an email to our Educational Services team at community@classvr.com and we will happily make the time for a quick chat about your ideas!

If you’re new to ClassVR and want to learn more about the world of opportunities it can open, book a demonstration with our team.
