5 Examples of Immersive Learning in Schools This Term
Teachers from across the world have already been delivering creative and inspiring lessons with ClassVR this new school year. From travelling to the Land of the Pharaohs to adventuring on the moon, we’ve seen SO many fantastic examples of immersive learning in schools!
Here’s a few of our favourites:
Around the World in 80 Days - Deighton Primary School, England
If you’re starting a topic like ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ you know it’s going to be exciting, but even more so by being able to virtually experience all these parts of the world with ClassVR!
Deighton Primary School certainly started off with a great location! Using the ClassVR headsets, students ventured to the continent of Antarctica to observe and research the landscape, all from the safety of their immersive learning classrooms. Looks like Mr Owen has a class full of future explorers here, we’re looking forward to seeing where they fly off to next!
This afternoon we started our new topic ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ 🌍 We used @ClassVR to visit our chosen continent Antarctica. We recorded our observations and possible areas of future investigation and research.🥶 #EdTech @EAS_Digital pic.twitter.com/Wqjxbxg40w— Mr Owen's Class (@DPS_Owen) September 9, 2021
Discover the Human Body - Berlin Brandenburg International School (BBIS), Germany
Time to get down to the bones of learning… literally. Alongside some other great learning tools BBIS have been diving deep into the human body in virtual reality to explore it like never before.
We love how they’ve integrated ClassVR with different technologies to create such an engaging and innovative science lesson, and can’t wait to see what the students are up to next!
Using @ClassVR, @mergeedu & @_Curioscope to explore and discover the human body for our G2 Unit of Inquiry. 360 Explorations - Mission to Maths! - Forfar Academy, Scotland
It’s surprising what you can do with a 360 camera, a rover and some ClassVR headsets! Forfar Academy haven’t had their ClassVR headsets long, but they’ve already started creating their own exciting virtual reality content in their immersive learning classrooms!
The Technical Education team have been using their departmental rover to venture into the unknown with their 360 camera. The mission? To make contact with the Maths department! It looks like the mission was a success – future explorations pending!
Our departmental rover (#FORselfie1) equipped with a practika z360 camera undergoing lunchtime tests. It’s 5 year mission is to find and record life outside Technical relaying footage to our @ClassVR headsets. A Safari Exploration - GEMS New Millenium Schools, Dubai
It’s not every day you get to go on a safari… especially from the classroom! The kindergarten students at GEMS New Millenium Schools in Dubai have started the new school year by going on a virtual safari – another exciting example of immersive learning in schools!
From elephants to lions and everything in between, there’s a whole world of animals the pupils could have seen on their safari. Now that’s what we call a first great day back… we wonder what’s planned for the rest of the school year!
Discovering Algebra in Landmarks - Winton Woods City Schools, United States
Who said virtual reality can’t be used in Math! Winton Woods City Schools are here to prove you wrong with a very immersive algebra class…
Visiting landmarks across the world with the ClasVR headsets, students were tasked with identifying parent functions within them! Now that’s a creative Math lesson if we ever did see one… can’t wait to see what’s next!
This is just a taste of all the immersive learning in schools happening this term… there’s so much more to come! To check out all the other amazing teaching that’s going on, follow our ClassVR Twitter page!
